Bart Brinkman is a Dutch artist working at the intersection of light art, technology, and social reflection. His practice spans installation, generative systems, and visual performance, using laser projection, video, and AI-driven tools to create situations that probe the relationship between human agency and the systems that increasingly shape it.
Central to his work is the tension between autonomy and influence: the subtle ways technology, algorithms, and digital capitalism redirect our attention, behaviour, and sense of identity. He approaches these themes not through manifesto but through sensory experience, work that fascinates first and unsettles after. His current project Shifting Perspectives (2025) is an autonomous iterative storytelling machine that cycles through AI-generated perspectives on the same narrative, making visible the quiet negotiation between human intent and machine logic. Brinkman's practice is oriented toward interdisciplinary contexts, from media art festivals to public spaces, where his installations open dialogue about technology, free will, and what it means to truly be.

Zijn praktijk omvat installatie, generatieve systemen en visuele performance, waarbij hij laserprojectie, video en AI-gedreven tools inzet om situaties te creëren die de verhouding tussen menselijke vrijheid en de systemen die ons leven steeds meer vormgeven te bevragen.

Brinkman ontwikkelt zijn praktijk richting interdisciplinaire contexten, van mediakunstfestivals tot publieke ruimtes, waar zijn installaties het gesprek openen over technologie, vrije wil en wat het betekent om echt aanwezig te zijn.
